Immersive Education

THE POWER OF IMMERSIVE EDUCATION . . . think these photos of my Year 5 pupils at Ellington, taken during their ‘Anti-Bullying’ experience this week, perfectly illustrate the transformative power of immersive education. Each child is fully absorbed in the activity, as if they are truly living the thoughts, emotions, and challenges of the character they are portraying. This level of engagement not only brings learning to life but also fosters a deeper emotional connection to the topic. The session used a powerful immersive audio experience created by now>press>play, one of over 100 outstanding experiences they provide. This particular experience guided pupils through a narrative where they faced situations involving bullying (both physically and online), encouraging them to empathise with different perspectives and reflect on their own behaviour. What followed in the classroom was nothing short of remarkable. Pupils channelled their newfound understanding into creative and reflective work, producing thoughtful pieces that demonstrated empathy, insight, and a genuine commitment to anti-bullying values. This experience has sparked meaningful discussions and reinforced the importance of kindness and inclusivity in our school community. Immersive education like this not only strengthens understanding but also helps develop the emotional intelligence and social awareness that are so essential for young learners.
